Even if you do not actually check their thoughts, you can take measures to ensure that they believe your message. You can go over all of the reactions and observe how they move around. Do they shake hands? Do they get lost? It is very hard to prepare a speech on a persuasion topic on the fly. However, this will help you plan your speeches. By learning how to keep your audience engaged in the progress of your speech, you will find that your speech will be well received by your audience.
